RepTrak Belgium 2016

Once again, Colruyt is Belgium’s most reputable business

Sponsoring enhances corporate reputation, say 64% of Belgians

Brussels, Friday 29 April 2016 – Once again, Colruyt leads the RepTrak® Belgium ranking of 30 prestigious Belgian businesses in results published today by akkanto, the exclusive Belgian partner of the international Reputation Institute. Lotus Bakeries (75.8) comes in second, with Brussels Airlines (73.1) and Tiense Suikerraffinaderij (73.0) coming in third and fourth place respectively.

Colruyt leads once again

The sixth edition of RepTrak® Belgium once again positions Colruyt at the top of the annual ranking with a strong, stable reputation score of 79.4. After beating Colruyt to this spot last year, Tiense Suikerraffinaderij takes a plunge in this year’s rankings (-6.7) while Lotus Bakeries (75.8) and Brussels Airlines (73.1) finish second and third.

All in all, the ranking this year shows a significant drop for eight and a rise for ten companies, with Proximus gaining the most ground (+8.7) and D’Ieteren falling furthest (-7.2). Strikingly, only five businesses rank as weak (scoring below 60 points) compared to last year’s fourteen. Moreover, the average reputation ranking across the board rose again this year.

Walter Gelens, Partner at akkanto, comments: “This is very encouraging and indicates that a growing number of more prestigious companies are taking reputation management seriously. The scientifically proven RepTrak® model illustrates a clear link between a company’s reputation score and its level of stakeholder support and financial results. Belgian businesses are increasingly coming to understand that stakeholder support is what determines a company’s credibility.”
